TFX 140 Internal Floating Piston (IFP) Rear Shock / Rebound & Preload Adjustments

TFX "IFP" Shocks feature the same quality components as their more advanced piggyback shocks, but with less oil capacity and damping adjustability at a lower price point. These IFP type shocks utilize an internal floating piston design which separates the oil and gas resulting in drastically reduced oil cavitation compared to an emulsion design where gas molecules are allowed to mix in with the oil. This means fade free performance even when heavily loaded or when riding over rough streets and off road terrain. IFP type shocks are superior to emulsion designs.

Model 140 IFP Shocks include the following features:

  • Designed, tested and manufactured in Holland.
  • 6082 Heat treated and Hard Anodized Aluminum Cylinder for maximum strength & better heat dissipation than steel cylinders.
  • Available with either Threaded or Hydraulic Preload Adjuster for optimum sag setup. (see *Recommendation, below)
  • Fully rebuildable.
  • Externally adjustable rebound damping with the simple turn of an easily accessible knob, no tools required.

  • Large 16mm chrome induction hardened piston rod.

*Recommendation: Please note that it is extremely difficult to access the Threaded Preload Adjuster on this model.  Therefore it is HIGHLY recommended that this product be purchased with the Hydraulic Preload Adjuster option.  The Threaded Preload Adjuster is designed for the rider whose loads do not change and therefore seldom needs to adjust the spring tension on the rear shock.

I ride my new (2022) R9T on the two lane back highways of the Pacific Northwest, these roads are twisty and hilly and can be a bit rough. The factory USD forks work well however the same can't be said of what they call a rear shock. The TFX R shock that Ted Porter recommended to me was the single biggest improvement I've ever experienced in suspension upgrades. Gone is the harshness and choppy ride of the stock unit. This TFX is smooth and confidence inspiring, and needless to say my back and butt are a lot more comfortable at the end of the day. I can't say enough about how much they have improved the quality of the ride and along with it the enjoyment.
