Purchase this kit to completely overhaul and reseal leaking forks. Seals, bumpers and gaskets are included. We also offer fork boots, fork oil and fork springs below.

Note: although the metal wiper rings for the damper rod pistons are also available, we have learned from decades of working on these forks that they generally do not need to be replaced. If you do replace them, there will be considerable drag on the piston, negatively effecting the responsiveness of the fork until they wear in.

On early 1970's models there was a urethane like bumper installed inside the spring loaded valve just under the damper rod piston. This small bumper ring would deform and protrude from the valve causing it to stick open. This bumper was deleted from the assembly by BMW later in production and is not needed or recommended.

Beemershop tech tip: The large gasket between the bottom fork leg cap and the fork leg can leak even when new unless you apply a good thread sealant to the gasket and lower threads of the lower cap such as Hylomar (which is now under the Permatex brand item #85420 available at your local auto parts store). Then using a 36mm socket, torque the cap to 70 ft lbs (95 N/m)
