*Recommendation: Please note that it is extremely difficult to access the Threaded Preload Adjuster on this model. Therefore it is HIGHLY recommended that this product be purchased with the Hydraulic Preload Adjuster option. The Threaded Preload Adjuster is designed for the rider whose loads do not change and therefore seldom needs to adjust the spring tension on the rear shock.
TFX shocks are engineered and manufactured from the best possible materials to guarantee you a shock you can rely on for many years and will fulfill your needs on the road, trail, or track!

Have had the shock installed for a few weeks, the weather has been great, so I’ve been able to ride the bike on pavement, gravel roads, and some more technical sections of NM forest roads that are super deeply rutted and pretty rocky. Bottom line: really enjoy this new shock. On pavement I find it supple and well damped without feeling mushy. It does a terrific job isolating road imperfections and presenting a smooth feel; yet corners hold very nicely and with no drama. I was ..welp … shocked at the difference off road. As you know, this is no hardcore dual sport bike – but the suspension made riding easier and frankly, less stressful. Largely because the bike was under better control. I noticed marked improvement on how rear wheel stays planted and maintains contact with terra-firma. There was considerably less wheel hop climbing up washboard and things felt more stable rolling over large undulations and rocks … basically pointing the bike along lines and maintaining them. I’ve had this bike for 25 years now. It is a compromise bike in every sense of the word. But it works. The new shock renders it a markedly improved light tourer and back country explorer. Was not cheap, but I’m happy. Chris M. 2001 F650GS
