Wilbers Zero Friction Progressive Fork Springs / F800GS '08-'12
Wilbers Zero Friction Progressive Fork Springs have several advantages over linear fork springs for street and off road use due to their progressive resistance to compression. Engineered to be compliant at the start of travel, they offer a comfortable and responsive ride, but the spring rate increases during compression to absorb the big bumps while resisting nosedive and bottoming which is a common complaint of riders using the stock fork springs. These features are very useful in a long travel adventure bike fork.
Don't forget to order Fork Oil! You will need 2 Liters. For the Marzocchi fork used on 2008-2012 models, use 7wt for more mixed on/off road use, or 10wt for more street/sport oriented riding. When changing the fork springs, drain all the old oil from the fork. Add new fork oil, pump the damper rod several times to expel all air and set the air chamber to 70mm. The air chamber is simply the distance from the oil level up to the top of the fork tube with the spring removed and the fork fully compressed.
